Discover the Power of Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice and cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that uses the insertion of very fine, sterile needles restore balance, promote healing and maintain health. Acupuncture needles stimulate the flow of Qi - the body’s vital energy or life force - and are inserted at acupuncture points located at precise areas on the body.

In TCM, it is believed that Qi flows through the body along specific pathways called meridians. When the flow of Qi is disrupted—due to stress, injury, poor diet, or illness—it can lead to pain, disease, or emotional imbalances. Acupuncture works by stimulating key acupoints to restore the smooth flow of Qi and correct these imbalances.

From a modern biomedical perspective, acupuncture has been shown to influence the nervous system, boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the release of the body’s natural painkillers—endorphins. It helps to balance hormones, regulate the immune system, and promote overall wellness.

Each acupuncture treatment is customized to treat the individual needs of each patient, treating the root causes of ailments and disease rather than simply masking the symptoms. Through this personalized, holistic approach, acupuncture helps restore harmony within the body while improving physical and emotional well-being.

What to Expect During an Acupuncture Session with Dr. Jocelynn Cheng

During your initial consultation and treatment, Jocelynn will take the time to thoroughly understand your health history and concerns, as well as your unique needs, ensuring every detail is carefully considered. Together, you’ll discuss your lifestyle, emotional health, and any physical symptoms. She will also do a pulse diagnosis and tongue examination - common TCM diagnostic tools used to assess your overall health - followed by an acupuncture session tailored to support your individual healing. Each session is carefully customized to address your particular needs, using gentle, effective techniques to restore balance and promote deep healing.

During the treatment, you will relax comfortably on the treatment table while Jocelynn gently inserts very fine, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points. Most patients do not feel the needles when inserted, though they may produce a slight tingling or dull sensation. The needles remain in place for about 20-30 minutes while you rest and restore. Jocelynn's goal is to help you feel more revitalized, empowered, and in harmony with your health and well-being by the end or your treatment.

You'll leave with a personalized treatment plan designed to fulfill your health and wellness goals, along with the assurance that you are in caring, compassionate hands every step of the way.
